Depending on your point of view, rules are good or they are bad and we have a few here at the Horn. The most important one being number "1" below:
General Racing Rules
1. This is a private residence. It costs you nothing to race here. All that’s required is that you bring your racing equipment and a good attitude. Family and friends welcome.
2. Repair on cars is allowed during the race but must be done when track power is on. When the track power is off only limited work is allowed on cars. If the car is functional it must be driven to the appropriate pit stall before it is removed from the track. If the car is not functional a track call will be initiated to allow for the damaged car to be removed from the track. During a race and with track power on, don’t stop car in front of driver’s station!
3. Cars must remain at the track during lane changes. Exceptions; when car is already in the garage area when the power was removed.
4. A racer may check car, cool motor, clean tires, straighten guide, straighten bodies, replace braid, oil the chassis, apply braid juice and replace or push in pins/body clips during lane changes. No other work is allowed.
5. Track calls:
a. Braid up or other track surface failure
b. Power failure (one or all lanes)
c. Debris in slot
d. Car cannot be marshaled (on floor or under overpass)
e. Lap counter or track equipment failure
f. Rider
6. If you race, you must turn marshal!

Race Formats
Sprint Race
This is the normal race format with each car running a 2-minute heat on each selected lane with a 1.5 minute intermission between heats. All cars will need to pass tech inspection before qualifying. All cars will be impounded between technical inspection and qualification. Each race will use a staggered start with individual starting positions determined by qualification results. Starting lane will be selected in qualifying order. The winner is the individual who has the most accumulated laps at the end of the race. The turn marshal rules apply.
Crash and Burn
As in the Sprint Race each car will run a heat in each lane. There will be no qualifying, turn marshals, no track calls, and each heat will be set for 20 laps. If a car is de-slotted, the driver will remove his car from the track and mark its position for the start of the next heat. 1.5 minute intermissions will be programmed for this race. All six lanes will be used for the race with only one rotation. The winner is the individual who has the most accumulated laps at the end of the race (maximum of 120 laps).
CANAM Endurance Race
The CANAM Endurance Race is a 1,000 lap team race run with 3 minute heats and 1.5 minute intermissions. There will be a maximum of 6 each 2 driver teams allowed to participate in the race. The CANAM Spec Car will be used for this race. The following rules apply:
Each team member must drive 500 laps (+/- 25 laps) during the race. Each team is to submit a drivers schedule to meet this requirement to the race director prior to the beginning of the race. It needs to show at what lap(s) during the race that driver changes will take place. The race director will enforce each teams plan.
- Team lane assignment for the start of the race will be determined at random.
- When you are not driving you must corner marshal when your car is not in the garage.
- Driver changes can only take place when the car is in the appropriate pit stall.
- The race director will pause the race and inspect all cars when the first team reaches the 500 lap point in the race. If the race director determines that work on the car is required, the driver will stop the car in the appropriate pit stall, after the race has been restarted and track power has been restored, to complete the repair (refer to 7 below). There will be a 15 minute break at this point in the race to take care human needs.
- All work performed on the car will be done by the team member that is not the current driver. If you are the driver you must remain at the driver’s station.
- During heat intermissions the team member not driving may lubricate the chassis, apply braid juice, repair body pins, cool the motor adjust braid and adjust the guide flag angle. No tools are allowed at the track other than a motor cooler. All other work on the cars will be done in the team garage after the car enters the appropriate pit stall.
- When a car enters its pit stall for repairs or tire changes it must be removed from the track and taken to the team garage for the repair or tire change by the non-driving team member. When the repair is complete it must be returned to the pit stall.
- The winning team will be the first to accumulate 1000 laps.
Cape Horn 740/720
The Cape Horn 740/720 is set up for 60 laps per heat and will equal 12 heats on 6 lanes (740 Laps) or 12 heats on 4 lanes (720 laps). 1.5-minute intermissions will be used. The following rules apply:
Team lane assignment for the start of the race will be determined at random. During heat intermissions the driver may lubricate the chassis, apply braid juice, repair body pins, cool the motor, adjust braid and adjust the guide flag angle. No tools are allowed at the track. All other work on the cars will be done in the team garage after the car enters the appropriate pit stall.
- A car must enter its pit stall for repairs or tire changes at which point it must be removed from the track and taken to the garage for the repair. The driver’s controller is to accompany the driver and not be left at the control station. When the repair is complete it must be returned to the pit stall.
- The winner is the individual who has the most accumulated laps at the end of the race.
